STEM/Robotics

Hall offers our youth the STEM/Robotics Program after school three days per week. This invaluable program: 1) Provides our community youth the opportunity to learn about scientific concepts and professions that utilize STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) information, and (2) Increases the sense of self-efficacy in science, math and measurement among our youth to gain competency in STEM knowledge. Students become innovators who practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. In addition to a robust STEM curriculum, the program also focuses on Robotics. Guided by adult coaches, teams research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. They also design, build, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology, and then compete on a table-top playing field. They learn to STEM and imagination, to solve a problem. Along their discovery journey, they develop critical thinking and team-building skills, basic STEM applications, and presentation skills, as they must creatively present their solutions to judges.
